One Moment In A Day 2012 : Hello Dailies - this is my 4th year at doing the dailies, although last year I technically only did 1/2 of the year. I was pulled many directions last year and was unable to dedicate the time needed to complete it. I missed it very much - so as we begin 2012 I am excited to be doing it again as well as looking forward to trying new styles and learning more about the amazing world of photography. Thanks for joining me on this adventure. Update - even though not all the images for 2012 are posted here they can be found on my face book page - just type in At Home Plate Photography, then go to albums and look for the one titled One Moment in A Day 2012..all of them are posted there. Your Bio

I believe God gives all of us a special gift Whether we embrace these gifts is up to each individual. I have always enjoyed photography. Once my daughters were born I felt the need to capture and document their lives as they grew. I began taking action shots of my daughters when they began playing t-ball, and now years later as they play fast pitch softball. I love catching that special unique shot that is out of the ordinary, as well as the awesome slide into home plate, or line drive back to the pitcher. I strive to get the best action shots of kids playing their hearts out. This spring my 18 year old is going to play Rugby for the first time - I can not wait to capture those shots... Catching the memories that will last a lifetime.
I am constantly seeking and finding new subjects to photograph - God has provided quite the canvas to capture His creations in a photo. I also believe I live in one of the most beautiful states that not only has the mountains and ocean but filled with beautiful forest areas- and awesome sites.

Nice Kitty!

Tonight is Gresham High's Homecoming - which means Homecoming Court and Class Floats. The theme this year is "super heroes"
and the junior class is the Justice League. A friend of ours does fabulous air brushing as you can see - Alexis was Cheetah.

"Great Catch"

Yes, these three lovely girls are a great catch! Josie is our number 1 catcher - a "monster" behind the plate, next is my daughter Taylor "the Beast", and our newest catcher "in training" Ashley.
My daughter is a NCIS fan - and she says that J-low is "Gibbs", she is DiNozzo and Ashley is McGee the "newbe".

Recently my aunt mentioned to me that she was going to be getting rid of a dresser and asked if I would like it. The wheels began to spin. I have been thinking lately about finding a book case or cabinet to put in my living room, in which I can store some things that are currently in some rubber made drawers. So of course I said "Yes I'll take it". When I got home with it and asked my husband to help me get it out of the van - of course he asked "and where is this going?" I explained my idea and how I wanted to paint it. He proceeds to tell me that a dresser does not belong in the living room. Well, a designer that I just love and adore and wish I could have over to my home just to spend time with (Nate Berkus) recently said "I love when people put items or furniture in places you would not typically find them". Bingo - as far as I am concerned..it's going in the living room...I can be very pursuasive - and once my husband sees the finished piece I believe he will like it too.

Had a fabulous senior shoot this morning with this energized Gresham Senior. She brought along 3 of her "band members" and boy did we have fun. They were truly so fun to be with - from posing to singing - enjoying their youth. Thank you Mariana, Hailey, Ashley and Tiff!

"Little People, Big World Fans"

For all you fans of the TLC show "Little People, Big World" - Ali and I met Amy Roloff - during a food drive sponsored by the local radio station -"The Wolf". She was very kind and spent quite a bit of time talking to Ali about Halloween costumes - which is Ali's favorite topic. As we walked away Ali in her sweet 3 year old voice said - that nice lady is as big as me.

"Precious China"

From a small child I always loved this tea cup - it was my Great Grandmother's. It had been given to my mom, who later passed it on to me. I always loved the delicate pattern of pale yellow and blue.

Hazzards of the Job!
In all the years of shooting softball pictures I have never been hit by a foul ball - yeterday I got hit by two . First game I was along the sidelines just behind 1st base when a ball was hit and rickochet off a pole and into the side of my head. Other than swelling and a little pain - I could still shoot..although I noticed my sunglasses becoming tighter. Next game I am in the dugout along 1st base and went to move a ball bucket. Girls were coming into the dugout to get ready to hit, while the other team was in the field warming up - shortstop over threw to the 1st basemen - smack right into the right side of my face leaving me with a fat lip - this took away from any pain I felt in my head. Managed to finish shooting the rest of the games! However I left my battery charger at the park in the box office - so I can't upload any pics taken yesterday. Luckly my daughter has practice tonight at the field so I can retreive it then. I borrowed my youngest daughters camera to shoot this lovely SP

"Krumkake"

This delicate Norwegian cookie is called a Krumkake - English pronouciation is krumkaka. I have been making these every year at Christmas since my girls were little. When Taryn was in grade school I would bring a treat for her to share with her class the week before Christmas to celebrate her birthday. I would always bring ice cream too, for they make delightful ice cream cones.

Reynolds High School All Year Reunion

At 1:59pm today my niece Pam gave birth to a healthy beautiful baby girl "Aspen Grace" 7.9lbs, 19 1/2''. Mommy and baby are doing wonderful - not to mention a thrilled Daddy and big brother Dallas. I am sure my pic of the day will be of her tomorrow after our visit.

"Snow is on the mountain"

Late this afternoon I noticed the sun shinning on our beautiful Mt. Hood and it was loaded with snow...I would have liked to take a drive to a spot I could have gotten a clear shot of the mountain - but this will have to do.
